Sir - Thanks for your post. As a Christian Soldier who is in Iraq right now, I can totally see where you are coming from about how a church fits in the Fourth of July scheme of things. May I suggest that instead of the service being a celebration of country in the body of the church, that is be a time of crying out to God on behalf of our country? God bestowed the blessings of liberty on us. All year long, kids, youth, and adults are bombared with the message that what we have is due to our own efforts and our own Constitution. The church is called to be light and can shed truth on this fallacy. Our freedoms are a gift from the Almighty and as the Israelites experienced many times, can be taken away as well. We can on this day recognize God for His power, His kindness to us, His mercy to us as a nation, and to lift up our leaders. No one else is willing as a corporate group to recognize that God is the center of our nation's significance adn any value it has comes from Him. There's a need to hear that stated publicly and in a worshipful attitude. I certainly agree that tha focus in many churches is "How do we turn a worship service into a pep rally for the USA?". I'm glad yours is not like that. I think a humble approach to the throne with a heart of gratitude for all He's done would be a shining example to the youth and kids who will not hear that message anywhere else. God - we depend on you. You made us separate for a reason, may we honor that reason with the right motives and use of the gift of liberty, and may we never forsake You. Thanks for listening.

I enjoyed reading your blog this morning. It made me think and reflect. And with a 2 year old toddler and a 7 week old baby in the house, I havent really found the time to do that recently. Thank you.

Thanks for your kind words. I just did what I was taught to do, when raising children, from a very special lady in my life. I will always be there for you no matter what, when or where you need me. I will always remember our late night chats-I still miss them. Thanks again. I love you!!
